A typical small seaside village<\/strong>, the essence of Ligurian tradition, with its colorful houses, stairs and alleys Each building, church and tiny detail contains an intertwining of history, sea and pastel colors.
The colorful facades of the houses accompany you along the entire promenade to the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta<\/strong>, which stands right on the most extreme point of the village, on what is called the ancient medieval island, a symbol of Camogli since ancient times.<\/p>

The entrance can be reached from the small square of the nearby port by climbing a wide stairway that also leads to the ancient Castel Dragone<\/strong>, built on the rocks overlooking the sea during the period of the Saracen invasions to defend the territory.<\/p>

The heart of the village is its characteristic marina<\/strong> with gozzo boats (small double-ended fishing boats), fishing boats, nets drying in the sun and tourist boats. The small size<\/strong> of the village makes it particularly convenient to explore on foot so that you can breathe in the its entire atmosphere: the promenade along the sea, the marina and the small internal streets not only offer particular views<\/strong>, facades that look like paintings, hidden squares where time seems to have stopped, but it also offers many small characteristic shops where you can discover jewels, ceramics and typical Ligurian handcrafted objects.<\/p>

Jewel of the Riviera di Levante is San Fruttuoso di Camogli<\/strong>, a small inlet on the Portofino promontory, completely enwrapped by the sea and the land, reachable on foot or by sea, via the panoramic paths that extend along the mountain, or by sea, starting from Camogli.<\/p>

Together with the sea and nature, the Abbey of Capodimonte<\/strong> (or Abbey of San Fruttuoso) stands out, a Benedictine monastery dated 1000, rich in history and tradition, absolutely worth visiting, an enchanted and very picturesque place where you can regenerate your mind and spirit. In the bay facing it, at a depth of 15 meters, is the famous statue of Christ of the Abyss<\/strong>, clearly visible, thanks to the clarity of the waters even from the surface, from which you can see His face looking upwards and His arms pointing upwards<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ruta di Camogli is located along the stretch of via Aurelia between Recco and Rapallo, it has a small group of houses along the hill and is one of the starting points for the itineraries of Portofino Nature Park<\/strong>.<\/p>

From here, along the only road open to vehicles, you can reach Portofino Vetta<\/strong>, one of the most popular access points to the paths of the Park, or you can reach the nearby San Rocco di Camogli<\/strong>.<\/p>
